Bedale 3 miles: Middleham 7 miles

The small and pretty village of Newton-le-Willows is situated just 3 miles from the market town of Bedale with its open air market (Tuesdays) and wealth of shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants. The village once came under the jurisdiction of Jervaulx Abbey, the ruins of which are a only 10 minute drive away. Gardeners will enjoy the Thorp Perrow Arboretum and the gardens at Constable Burton and Newby Hall Gardens near the cathedral town of Ripon and don’t miss the weird and wonderful “Forbidden Corner” near Middleham, the famous racing centre of the north, also with a glorious castle.

The barn is ideally placed for exploring all of Wensleydale, Swaledale and Wharfdale and the city of York is less than an hour away. Richmond with its renowned Georgian Theatre and excellent Station Cinema, all within easy reach. Nearby is the market town of Masham with the famous Black Sheep Brewery. Leyburn, another market town, home to Tennants the well known auctioneers. Further away at Barnard Castle the Bowes Museum, well worth a visit as is also the Creamery at Hawes and access to the Pennine way.
